Rockwood hosting Pioneer Days June 14

The community is celebrating Pioneer Day with a rubber duck race that will kick off a full slate of events starting at 10am on June 14.

The race will take place at the Rockwood Waterside Park.

Noon marks the start of a parade through town with judging at Lloyd Dyer Park. There will be prizes for best float, best decorated bike, best decorated car, best overall costume, best hat and best dressed pet. Everyone is welcome to attend and take part.

Also starting at noon are games and events in the park, which will include face painting, local crafts, a fish pond, a fire safety exhibit and a baseball challenge between Rockwood Firefighters and Rockwood No Stars. The park events run until 4pm.

A movie night will be held at the park starting at 8:30pm with movies to be announced. Organizers are recommending those attending the movies to bring a lawn chair or blanket and bug repellant.

On Friday at 7:30pm, Ian Reid and friends will host an outdoor musical concert in the pavilion at Waterside Park.
