In a report to Centre Wellington council on Dec. 20 Wellington County councillor Rob Black spoke briefly on the new hospital project moving along in Aboyne.
“It’s on schedule for completion at the end of 2019,” he said.
Black said Triton Engineering was installing utility trenching for gas, hydro and cable, with assistance from Wellington County staff and the hospital construction crew.
Interpretive signs for trails
Black also addressed new interpretive signs for the trail developed along the Grand River near Wellington Road 18, opposite the Wellington County Museum and Archives.
He explained with the assistance of a Canada 150 grant, the museum was able to install signage focused on interpretive sites such as the pump house ruins, a replicated windmill (which was there originally), and limekiln ruins.
Black said further work is expected next spring.
The trail includes walkways, stairs, a lookout beneath the trestle bridge and interpretive signs and kiosks.
He added there is also signage to the larger paved parking area along Wellington Road 18.
Part of the reason for that signage was that people had been driving into the open field to access the walking trail, Black explained.
