Community members are invited to a Street Park play day and fundraising barbecue on Sept. 26 from 11am to 2pm at the RBC Branch located at 118 Main Street in Rockwood.
Bring a scooter, skateboard or BMX bike to the RBC parking lot that will be temporarily turned into a skate and Street Park and participants can show off their skills and give their support for a skateboard park in Rockwood.
The RKWD Street Park fundraising committee is a group of adults and youth in the Rockwood community who are working to achieve their dream of a skateboard park facility in Rockwood. The purpose of the committee is to educate the public on the benefits of skate parks in a community and to raise money for the construction of a skateboard park facility.
“This event is a way for our Committee to introduce ourselves to the Rockwood community and to raise awareness about our goal of a skate park in Rockwood,” said Bill Murray, committee chair, in a press release. The fundraising committee will also be holding a logo design contest at the event.
The committee formed in early August and is planning to host future fundraising events for the initiative.
