Riverfest takes the stage Aug.25

The fourth annual celebration of music and community known as Riverfest is set to take the stage in Bissell Park this Saturday night.

The lineup of musical acts includes Toronto-based alt-country band Cuff the Duke and indie rockers The Wooden Sky along with Celtic guitarist Tony McManus and songstress Lisa Bozikovic.

Cuff the Duke, who have previously toured with Sloan and The Sadies, have spent the past year performing in support of their fifth album, Morning Comes, produced by Blue Rodeo’s Greg Keelor. They perform a unique blend of country-folk music with indie-rock influences.

The Wooden Sky has been praised for their unique approach to Americana-based music.

The Elora-based six-piece alternative funk band The Boo Radley Project, Dundas-based songstress Karis Tees and featured performers from the Elora Acoustic Café will also play the smaller, intimate Tree Stage.

Riverfest is a licensed event that will feature food from local restaurants and shops.

Proceeds from the event will be directed towards “Raising the Roof,”  a program that aims to provide Elora with a permanent performing arts venue.

Tickets for Riverfest are $30 in advance or $35 (cash only) at the gate; $5 for children under 10. Purchase online at www.riverfestelora.com or at the following vendors: Shepherd’s Pub, Box Social and Santé in Elora, the Grand Theatre in Fergus, The Bookshelf and The Cornerstone in Guelph and Orange Monkey Music in Waterloo.

Music begins on the Tree Stage at 4:30pm, rain or shine. Fold-out chairs are permitted. For more information and performance times, visit www.riverfestelora.com.
