Council here has agreed to reimburse a local business for damages caused as a result of work being done by for municipality.
The Out to Lunch restaurant in Palmerston is being paid $600 for water line restoration.
Councillor Wayne Martin explained that William Street in Palmerston was being reconstructed. Out to Lunch is located on that street.
Martin said that while a new water line was being installed, a part of the line that was not out of circulation was broken.
As a result there was water damage in the cellar and the business.
Martin said the other impact was that the business was closed for two days.
“At the public works meeting, we felt we should take responsibility because it was our situation to manage,” Martin said. “That’s why the motion is on the table.”
Council supported that recommendation.
