Responsible boating urged

The boating season has arrived and Wellington County OPP are offering marine safety tips:

– always wear a personal floatation device (PFD);

– ensure the PFD fits snug and securely;

– operate your watercraft at safe speeds at all times, especially in crowded areas;

– be courteous of others using the water and obey all boating rules;

– be cautious of swimmers and other marine operators, and always have a spotter for water-skiers and tube riders;

– stay alert; and

– avoid alcohol as alcohol and watercrafts don’t mix.
