In case council didn’t get the message during a public presentation last February, Arkell area residents wrote to council to clarify their position regarding the proposed redevelopment of 599 Arkell Road.
Signed by area residents Marny Mason, Dave and Sally Prior, and Glenna and Doug Smith, the letter was part of the March 16 Puslinch council agenda.
The letter writers contend “There is significant interest in the hamlet regarding the activities at this site.”
During the group’s prior presentation, concerns were outlined regarding the buffer strip between this property and its neighbours.
This time, photos were added to illustrate the concern about the possibility of allowing an outdoor seating area.
Prior to 1992, the rear yard was for residential use only, and included a single car garage, along with trees and a fenced lawn as compared to the current commercial parking.
The group is concerned that an outside seating area will impact noise and light pollution in the community, impact privacy in the neighbouring properties, and likely reduce the available on-site parking.
Overflow parking is a concern where patrons and employees park on the public sidewalk or on Boreham Drive as they already do now.
“In summary, the Arkell resident delegation is asking you to consider and address the above-mentioned health and safety concerns … Thank you for the opportunity to participate in this process,” the letter states.
Councillors received the information without further discussion.
