ARTHUR – With the local Caressant Care Nursing and Retirement Home dealing with a major COVID-19 outbreak, a group of local residents decided to bring a little cheer to residents and staff this week.
Between Jan. 11 and 14, the group spent the day building snow sculptures around the Caressant Care grounds.
Volunteers built the sculptures in the morning and returned to decorate them in the afternoon.
Those helping with the project included: Jeanette Knox, Linda Jansen, Pat Dyce, Brenda McDonough, Joy Hutchison, Heather Harrison, Rick Watt and Glenna Wilson.
By Jan. 14, the outbreaks at Caressant Care Arthur had grown to 71 cases between long-term care (19 residents, 17 staff) and the retirement home (23 residents, 12 staff).
Two residents have died as a result of the outbreaks.
