MAPLETON – A showcase of work by a local quilter will be presented on Sept. 9 and 10.
Renske’s World of Quilting will feature quilts by Renske Helmuth from 9am to 8pm on Friday evening and 9am to 4pm on Saturday.
The event will be held at Helmuth’s home, at 6833 Wellington Road 9 near Moorefield.
Antique farm equipment will also be on display at the event and a food truck will be on site.
“I coordinated my first quilt for the Mennonite Relief Sale in New Hamburg for the 1999 sale with members of the Waterloo County Quilters Guild,” stated Helmuth. “It was very successful and started my career as a quilting teacher.”
Helmuth has entered quilts in national and international competitions and taught quilting across Canada.
Viewing times for the event must be booked in advance through the Renske’s World of Quilting Facebook page. A donation of $20 is suggested, with funds raised going to the Canadian Foodgrains Bank.
