REMEMBRANCE DAY 2017: Legion extending veteran banner program to Clifford

Harriston Royal Canadian Legion Branch 296  is extending its “Salute a Veteran” banner campaign to Clifford.
The program, which began in 2014 in Harriston, honours past and present Canadian Forces members with personalized commemorative banners hung on light standards on the town’s main street during the period around Remembrance Day.
In 2016, the Frank Lambier Legion Branch 409, Palmerston initiated a program to hang the commemorative banners in that community.
The Harriston Legion is now accepting applications for banners to line the streets of Clifford.
After planned road construction is  completed in the village next year there will be approximately 22 poles available for banners in Clifford.
Application forms will be received until Aug. 1, 2018. Since the Clifford main street can only accommodate approximately 22 banners, it is suggested anyone interested request an information package and application to place an order as soon as possible by contacting:
– Salute a Veteran chair Gary Thackeray at cruncher@wightman.ca or 519-338-2526; or
– Harriston Legion administrator Flo Van Meer at  Legion296@wightman.ca or  519-338-2843.
