Region reports 29 new COVID-19 cases

WELLINGTON COUNTY – The number of active COVID-19 cases in the region is down slightly from last week.

On Nov. 2, Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health (WDGPH) recorded 29 new cases (cases not updated on weekends).

None of the new cases are listed as being in Wellington County, though some cases on the WDGPH site are often not attributed to a geographical location.

Active cases in the region are now at 63, down 10% from 70 on Oct. 26.

Regional numbers for the last three weeks are:

  • Nov. 2: 63 active cases (three in Wellington);
  • Oct. 26: 70 active cases (five in Wellington);
  • Oct. 19: 54 active cases (two in Wellington).

On Nov. 2,  there were 948 new cases in the province, over three quarters of them in the Toronto (315), Peel (269), Ottawa (64) and York (81) regions.

The seven-day average of new daily cases, which officials often use to provide a clearer view of trends, continues to rise and is now at an all-time high of about 919.
