CENTRE WELLINGTON – Described by Roots Music Canada as “The Pink Floyd of Folk Music” the Red Dirt Skinners will make their debut on the Fergus Grand Theatre stage on Oct. 29.
The Red Dirt Skiners are the multi-award winning, multi-instrumentalist husband and wife team of Rob and Sarah Skinner.
Theatre coordinator Eric Goudie said “People have missed seeing live performances just as much as we’ve missed putting them on. Their music is exactly what we need right now, and the perfect way for us welcome audiences back.”
The first act in history to achieve accolades at both the British Blues and British Country Awards, the duo’s unique sound also won them folk/roots album of the year and Alternative Album of the year in several polls across the UK and North America.
They were also nominated Duo of the Year at the International Acoustic Music Awards.
The duo’s album, Under Utopian Skies, is a testament to their love of Canada and is described by Classic Rock Magazine as “Substantial, beautifully rendered folk music.”
Their newest album, Bear With Us, is scheduled for release on Oct. 22, just a week before their Fergus show.
“The album is a triumph to positive thinking, at a time when we could all use a boost. Be prepared for laugh out loud lyrics, followed by songs sure to pull at your heartstrings,” a release states. Tickets are $35 each. Health and safety protocols will be in effect for all events, and proof of vaccination will be required for admission.
Tickets are available in the box office, by phone at 519-787-1981, or online at www.fergusgrandtheatre.ca.
