The world’s largest triathlon series will be coming to Guelph Lake Conservation Area here on Sept. 4.
The Subaru triathlon series ninth and final event of the season will have over 1,400 athletes participating. The Guelph Lake triathlon is one of Ontario’s premier events due to the venue and surrounding area. The two races this year will combine to see over 3,500 athletes race in Ontario’s hotbed for racing.
Athletes from across Ontario will be in the two events. The first on Saturday scheduled for 9am is the Sprint triathlon consisting of a 750 metre swim, 30km bike, and 7km run. For those athletes who chose not to swim, a duathlon is also offered, consisting of a 2km run, 30km bike, and 7km run.
The Merrell Try-a-Tri consists of a 375 metre swim, 10km bike and 2.5km run; that event is geared to the beginner athlete and will start at 1pm. The Guelph Lake Triathlon offers something for all multisport athletes.
The athletes will be using local roads North of Guelph Lake Conservation area for the biking segments of the events.
