Recognize local caregivers by nominating them for “˜Heroes in the Home”™ recognition

Many local residents benefit from the support of others to live safely and independently in their homes.

The Waterloo Wellington Local Health Integration Network (WWLHIN) is encouraging the recipients of this support to recognize their exceptional caregivers by nominating them for “Heroes in the Home.”

Whether it’s the neighbour who shovels your driveway, the friend who drives you to your medical appointments, or the personal support worker who is helping your family member to live independently at home, “Heroes in the Home” is an opportunity to thank paid and unpaid caregivers for making a difference in someone’s life.

“We are very excited to have the opportunity to recognize the local heroes who support residents with their care,” said Karyn Lumsden, vice president of home and community care at WWLHIN.

“We know there are many paid and unpaid individuals who go above and beyond when providing care at home and in the community.

“These heroes make a profound difference in the lives of the people they support.”

Those who are nominated will be invited to attend a recognition event with a guest. Events will be held in Waterloo Region and in Guelph-Wellington.

To nominate someone for “Heroes in the Home,” visit www.lhins.on.ca where there is a link to a survey, or a printable form that can be mailed in.

May 8 is the deadline for submitting nominations.
