Local police have dealt with a number of break-ins around the county recently.
ELORA – On Aug. 26 at about 1:15pm Wellington County OPP officers responded to a report of a residential break-in on Victoria Street here.
Police say the crime, which took place between Aug. 20 and 26, included the theft of an Apple desktop computer, silverware, jewelry, medication and a PVR box.
The investigation is ongoing.
ERIN – On Aug. 28 at about 5:02am Wellington County OPP officers responded to a report of a break-in at Holtom’s Bakery on Main Street in Erin village.
Police say the suspect gained entry through an insecure second floor window, damaged a cash register and stole an undetermined quantity of cash.
The suspect is described as male, average height, thin build, wearing a dark-coloured hoodie, with light grey shirt underneath, and black gloves.
PALMERSTON – On Aug. 28 at about 6:30am Wellington County OPP officers received a report of a theft at a residence on Toronto Street here.
Police say sometime between Aug. 27 at 10:30pm and Aug. 28 at 6:30am. unknown suspect(s) entered a garage attached to a residence and removed bicycles.
The OPP is reminding homeowners to double check that vehicles are locked and garage doors closed prior to retiring for the evening.
“Theft is a crime of opportunity. Do not give thieves any advantage when it comes to stealing your property,” police said in a press release.
