WELLINGTON COUNTY – Perth-Wellington MPP Matthew Rae has announced over $3.4 million in funding for local emergency rooms and acute medical and surgical beds.
Louise Marshall Hospital in Mount Forest and Palmerston and District Hospital will each receive $150,000.
“This funding will help reduce emergency department wait times and expand bedded capacity locally,” Rae stated on Aug. 31.
“Our local emergency departments and health care professionals go above and beyond each day. Our hospitals are an integral part of our rural communities, and I am glad to see our government continues to make investments in them.”
Officials say the province is providing an additional $44 million this year “to 165 high-volume and smaller emergency departments to reduce wait times and provide more efficient healthcare.”
The province is providing up to $1.17 billion in 2023-24 to support bed capacity at hospitals across Ontario.
Other hospitals to receive funding include:
– St. Mary’s Memorial Hospital, $150,000;
– Listowel Memorial Hospital, $150,000; and
– Stratford General Hospital: $260,000.
Stratford General Hospital will also receive $2,555,000 to help with bed capacity.
