MIDDLESEX – On Sept. 27, Perth-Wellington MPP Matthew Rae and Lambton-Kent-Middlesex MPP Steve Pinsonneault announced $1,335,810 of provincial funding for the Association of Ontario Road Supervisors and their efforts to train municipal equipment operators.
The funding is through the Skills Development Fund (SDF) and brings Ontario’s total spending in skills development training through SDF to nearly $1.1 billion.
“This … will ensure that our municipalities have the staff they require to keep our public infrastructure safe and operational,” Rae said.
“Our provincial government will continue to make these important invests to support both urban and rural municipalities in the training and retention of municipal equipment operators.”
The SDF training stream is open to employers, industry associations, labour unions, municipalities, hospitals and more.
Since its launch in 2021, Ontario’s Skills Development Fund has helped connect more than half a million jobseekers with the skills and training they need to find well-paying and fulfilling careers close to home.
The Skills Development Fund Training Stream is supported through labour market transfer agreements between the Government of Canada and the Government of Ontario.
