Councillors here have no objections to Puslinch being included in the Black Bridge Area Cultural Heritage Study being undertaken by the City of Cambridge.
On Sept. 18, councillors here received a report from the Cambridge study.
The township also supported in principle the City of Cambridge proceeding with the Black Bridge Road Environmental Assessment on Township owned land (Town line Road from Wellington Road 34 northerly to the intersection at Black Bridge Road/Roszell Road).
Mayor Dennis Lever added that upon a decision being made by Cambridge, that Puslinch would get a report from Wellington County’s planning department regarding the implications for the township and that the township is prepared to consider the transfer of ownership of the Townline Road segment.
Puslinch CAO Karen Landry said the resolution before council indicated support of the Puslinch lands being included in the study.
“What that study did was to recognize the heritage resources in that particular area and that those resources be considered in the Environmental Assessment and moving forward.”
Landry said staff still need to report to the city as to what the next steps would be as a result of the study being completed.
A plan would address whether the area would be considered as a heritage conservation district versus a cultural landscape plan area.
Lever added any financial impacts would not be directed to Puslinch.
