Puslinch councillors were pleased to present long-service medals on Nov. 15 to township firefighters.
Those honoured were Ken Tosh (40 years) and Alan Gordon, Scott Priest, Shawn Whaling and John Uptegrove (30 years).
Mayor Dennis Lever said he was pleased to issue the fire service medals, noting three of the five firefighters in attendance that night have 100 years of combined service, “which is pretty incredible.”
Later in the meeting, Fire Chief Luis Gomes official introduced new deputy chief Brad Churchill.
“I must say in the short two weeks since Brad has been with us, he has made a terrific first impression … and we look forward to many years with him as part of our team,” said Gomes.
Churchill said he received a warm welcome from the township, “which has made the transition into the role a lot easier.” He added, “It is an honour to work here, especially when I see people who have been here with 30 and 40 years of service to the community.”
Churchill said Puslinch has a highly respected fire service in Ontario “and I am proud to be part of it.”
