Puslinch Fire and Rescue Services will be celebrating its 50th anniversary on Sept. 22 from noon to 4pm.
Dignitary speeches and presentations will start at 2pm.
Wellington-Halton Hills MP Michael Chong, Puslinch mayor/Wellington County warden Dennis Lever and Puslinch councillor Susan Fielding are scheduled to speak as well as representatives on the fire department.
The day will consist of an open house, free barbecue, silent auction, several children’s safety centres (smoke trailer, remote control robot etc.)
In 1968, Puslinch Township council started the process of forming a fire department.
A fire chief was chosen and ads put in the Newspapers for volunteers to come and sign up.
Training for the eager volunteers started in September 1968 and after four months of training, they were ready to take over fire protection for Puslinch on Jan. 1, 1969.
