Puslinch Christmas lights fundraise for cancer research

ARKELL – With Santa and his reindeer perched upon the roof, snowmen and nutcrackers standing tall, and Charlie Brown, Snoopy and Woodstock playing on the lawn, this Christmas light display is a sight to behold.

And it’s more than just a show of lights – the display is a fundraiser for cancer research.

The homeowners invite people to come and check out the Christmas lights, and encourage visitors to leave donations for the Cindy Lee Graham Memorial Award for Brain and CNS Cancer Research.

Graham, mother to then-eight-year-old twins Dean and Darwin, died of brain cancer at Hospice Wellington in 2021.

The memorial award provides funding to graduate student researchers in McMaster University’s cancer research program.

“It is these graduate students who will be the force that ultimately defeats this disease, and it was Cindy’s wish that she be able to support these bright minds in their efforts to prevent others from suffering as she and her family and friends have,” officials state.

While facing glioblastoma Graham participated in clinical trials to advance cancer research and ultimately donated her brain and spinal cord to research at McMaster University, giving scientists a unique opportunity for deeper understanding of the cancer and its treatment.

The display is located at 33 Carter Road, just off Arkell Road between Victoria and Watson.
