The second meeting of the Puslinch 4-H sheep club was held at the farm of Dr. Peter and Julie Rich.
The meeting was led by Main Street Animal Hospital veterinarians, Dr. Peter Rich and Dr. Rob Swackhammer.
We were separated into groups and sent to one of two stations.
At one station, we were told how to vaccinate, de-worm, handle lambing and trim hooves.
At the other station, we did preg-checks and guessed how heavy a market lamb was.
After that, we held the business part of our meeting, talked about the importance of biosecurity and had some yummy treats.
Dr. Rich announced that the actual weight of the lamb was 99 pounds, and that the money from its sale was going to be donated towards our club!
A huge thanks to the Rich’s for their generosity for hosting a very interesting meeting and for donating the lamb.
