Centre Wellington is looking for public input as it determines its growth management strategy for the years ahead.
The GMS is expected to provide a sustainable infrastructure approach in Centre Wellington.
The township hired Stantec Consulting Ltd. and Watson and Associates to undertake the preparation of a GMS to understand the implications of growth pressures on the township and provide direction for future growth and infrastructure upgrading/extensions. Its report presents three options for meeting the provincially mandated density target of 40 people and jobs per hectare.
Residential Greenfield Density Options:
“””Option 1 – status quo;
Option 2 – consistency with historical built form and natural environment; and
Option 3 – shifting density in strategic urban areas
The township must also provide for employment growth to 2031. The growth projection requires an additional 7,070 jobs in the township. Employment growth is planned at 25 to 35 jobs per hectare.

The Options and Approaches Report for the GMS is on the township’s website for review. Feedback will be accepted until April 21 via gms@centrewellington.ca.
Following that, the consulting team and the township will consider the feedback received and complete a final draft report which identifies a preferred option, as well as recommendations for amendments to Township policy, regulations and guidelines to implement the preferred option.
