It was a chance for residents to get up to date on their community.
Prior to the start of the most recent Puslinch community forum on Nov. 10, Mayor Dennis Lever offered explained items that arose from previous forums.
He said questions on the acoustics in the council chambers were addressed. At the last council meeting, council inaugurated its new sound system.
Lever said it is still being tweaked to improve sound.
Another item involved railway crossings at Hume and Watson Roads. Puslinch has contacted a representative of the Guelph Junction Railway and a study is being done on the crossing at Watson Road.
Lever said council is looking into the matter of Highway 6 and Concession 1.
He explained the township is hiring a consultant to consider a best solution for that intersection.
As for concerns about the Ministry of Transportation and security lights, councillor Susan Fielding said she had tracked it down. She said it was quite a challenge to find the right people to get the information.
However she said the company TWD, which had overseen highways and carpools, was recently bought by Carillion Canada.
Fielding spoke to an MTO representative who explained there are no video cameras installed at carpools in Ontario.
At that time, she was also told it is illegal to leave vehicles in carpools overnight – something Fielding had not known.
She had pointed out many of the thefts from the carpool lot in Puslinch happen during the day.
“That representative had been unaware of the OPP statistics, which average thefts to one car a week.”
Fielding said it appears installing video cameras is not on the MTO agenda.
“It may not be the answer we wanted, but it is an answer.”
Lever said another question raised in previous forums was the costs involved with effluent testing at Carroll Pond.
Lever noted a representative from Gamsby and Mannerow is anticipated at the December meeting.
He said there is no report on Concession 7.
“Council has decided not to change the speeds on all the gravel roads.
We will look at roads individually and have asked the roads superintendent to come back with recommendations about specific cases.”
He added traffic levels are going to be monitored on various roads in the township including Concession 7.
