Items brought in for an appraisal at last weekend’s 19th annual Elora Antique Show and Sale were as unique as the individuals carrying them.
“You name it, it’s come in,” Janet Carlile said during an interview on Saturday. “There’s been an enormous range.”
Carlile, a certified professional appraiser from the Ottawa area, told the Advertiser she expected to appraise items for about 200 people over the two-day show at the Elora community centre. Many of those who had items valued by Carlile had no idea what their treasure – or trash – was worth.
Carlile’s “identification clinic” was a new feature at the Elora show, which annually features the sale of a wide range of antiques and collectibles, including kitchen goods, vintage clocks and watches, fine art, antiquarian books and antique furniture.
