Procedural items on the agenda for future meeting in town

Procedural items will be slated for a coming council meeting, but not until the mayor returns to the table.

Originally, the issue was slated for discussion on July 12, but in the absence of Mayor Lou Maieron, the consensus of council was that discussion should be deferred until he returned.

The mayor had been delayed at another engagement, and was unable to attend that night’s regularly scheduled council meeting.

As council reviewed the minutes of the June 21 meeting, councillor Barb Tocher, acting as mayor, said “The only item I have a concern in regard to the minutes is … the resolution regarding South Frontenac.”

Those minutes indicated the original motion requesting support of South Frontenac’s resolution regarding the sale of goods that are recyclable or compostable.

The motion to file that resolution was defeated.

Council then supported a motion to support the request.

Tocher explained, “The only issue I have with it is a procedural issue, that is why I added to the agenda, a discussion on procedural items.”

“This doesn’t change the gist of the actual minutes.”

Later, in the clerk’s report, Kathryn Ironmonger commented on those minutes, but said she knew that Tocher’s issue was similar, and deferred that discussion to other business as that item arose.
