Predicting trends for 2018: number of factors to consider before purchasing RV

The 2018 RV season is about to begin and here are the biggest trends this year.

Size Matters

Expect to see more people proving that bigger isn’t always better. With new innovations and space saving designs, it’s easier than ever to pack more luxuries into smaller spaces. And since money is tight for some people, smaller, less expensive RVs will be within reach for almost everyone.

Smaller size also means more tow-vehicle options, opening the door to a larger category of outdoor-loving adventurers more interested in keeping their mid-sized sedan than needing to upgrade to a large SUV or truck.

Technology

New models have touchscreens that allow you to control everything from the heat and air conditioning, to the external awnings. In fact, many advanced RVs allow you to monitor and control certain features remotely using your smartphone.

And although back to nature and retro looks are in – complete disconnection is not.

2018 models of certain makes of RVs include USB charging ports built into the RV walls — just like regular electrical outlets. And it goes without saying that new RVs almost always come equipped with at least one TV, many of which are high-tech flat screen devices that offer HD picture quality.

Going green

Getting off-grid to connect with nature is also a growing trend and has resulted in a larger segment of off-road capable trailers, along with more sustainable construction techniques.

One of the biggest movements in RV industry trends is the push toward outfitting rigs with solar power, which can help offset the need to run an RV generator. Not only are generators noisy, but they also emit noxious fumes which can be harmful to the environment.

Unique floorplan and interiors

Many of the top trends are influenced by millennials, the fastest growing demographic of RV purchasers. Studies show that this group wants more modern interiors following residential design trends like matching appliances, LED lighting and upscale decor.

If any seasoned RVer knows, floorplans are one of the first things shoppers look for when hunting the perfect RV. These blueprints of your humble abode are a great way for models to come to life, differentiating them from competitors. You should expect the unexpected from now on.
