A new fundraiser is being launched by the Power of Play accessible playground group in cooperation with the Fergus-Elora Rotary Club.
The two have teamed up to hold a charity raffle with $4,000 in prizes up for grabs.
Power of Play member Andy Speers said the group has already raised $90,000 for an estimated $200,000 to make Stait Park in Fergus fully accessible to all users.
The Rotary Club has already committed $50,000 toward the venture.
“We’ve done really, really well,” Speers said of the fundraising efforts. “We are hoping for a Trillium grant of $80,000.
He expects to hear whether the group has been successful in its grant application by March.
For the raffle, organizers are selling tickets at $10 for one or $25 for three with the final draw taking place at the Brew House on the Grand in Fergus on Feb. 28.
Prizes include a 40-inch flat screen television from Station Earth and a $250 gift certificate from Broderick’s Apparel, as well as prizes supplied by Canadian Tire, Centre Wellington Tourism, Macadi Jewellry, Thatcher Farms and the Brew House. Another prize available is two roundtrip tickets from West Jet anywhere the airline flies.
Tickets can be purchased by emailing Speers at andy.speers@ugdsb.on.ca, or by calling 519-787-3738 or by going to any of the supporting businesses.
