ARISS — Portage Ontario and Richard Van Dyke with the Cooperators presented the third annual “Freedom from Addiction Golf Classic: A Day of Golf with a Purpose” on June 12 at Ariss Valley Golf and Country Club.
The club raised over $40,000 to bring awareness and support to individuals battling addiction, and to promote a future free from the grips of substance abuse.
Golfers of all skill levels participated in a day filled with friendly competition, camaraderie, and a shared commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of those affected by addiction, officials say.
“We are excited to host the Annual Freedom from Addiction Golf Classic,” said Ashley-Ann Maginnis, associate director of development at Portage.
The tournament offered various contests, including the “closest to the pin” sponsored by ServPro, the “longest drive,” and “hole-in-one” sponsored by Grand Landscapes, where participants had a chance to win a prize worth $25,000.
All funds raised through the tournament will directly support the programs and initiatives of Portage, allowing it to provide resources, counseling, treatment, and support services to individuals on their journey to recovery.
“This event continues to grow each year and helps us to raise much-needed funds but also raises awareness about the importance of supporting those affected by addiction,” Maginnis added.
“Together, we can make a significant impact and provide hope for a brighter future for individuals and families in our community.”
