Following last week’s heavy flooding, Wellington County OPP issued a warning to motorist to avoid high water levels and driving through roads submerged in water.
Due to the higher than normal temperatures and large amounts of rain and run off, police received reports of roads covered with water and numerous roads were temporarily closed throughout the county.
Police remind motorists it only takes a small amount of water to dislodge a vehicle.
“Six inches of moving water could be enough to easily wash you and your vehicle off the road. It is also extremely difficult to judge the depth of water on a roadway. Please be safe and avoid crossing over roadways if water flows over it.”
