MORRISTON – Police have recovered a gun and arrested one person, and are searching for additional armed suspects following a home invasion in Morriston on Friday.
Wellington County OPP officials say officers responded to a 911 “in the vicinity of” Church Street and Whitcombe Way in Morriston on Jan. 31 at about 1am.
“It was determined that three individuals forcefully entered a residence and confronted the occupants inside,” police stated in a press release.
“One occupant received minor injuries following an altercation with the suspects.
“The suspects took the homeowner’s vehicle and fled the scene.”
Constable Kirk MacDonald told the Advertiser three people were in the house at the time, including a child. The child was not injured, he added.
“As it’s still very early in the investigation, we don’t have any information to suggest that the intruders were known to the occupants,” MacDonald stated in an email response to another Advertiser question.
Police say that at about 1:30am, Mississauga OPP officers located the stolen vehicle in a parking lot near Highway 401 and James Snow Parkway in Milton.
They arrested one suspect with the assistance of Halton and Peel police, including Peel’s canine unit.
“Investigators recovered a firearm at the scene,” stated the OPP.
“Police are still searching for other suspects involved who are believed to be armed.”
Jesse Mlynarski, 24, of Toronto, was charged with assault with a weapon, disguise with intent, pointing a firearm, theft of a vehicle, possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, robbery using a firearm, possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm and break and enter to commit an indictable offence.
