FERGUS – Police are looking for the owner of a “large” dog that recently bit someone here.
Wellington County OPP officials say police were called to a business on Tower Street shortly after 9am on Oct. 1.
“As the local resident attended the business, two dogs were reported to have been tied-up outside the front door where the incident took place,” police stated in an Oct. 9 press release in response to an Advertiser request for information about the incident.
“As a result of the incident, the resident sustained an injury deemed to be minor in nature and did not seek medical attention at the scene. It was reported later that the resident attended a local hospital to get treatment as a precaution. Public Health was notified.”
A witness told the Advertiser the man was trying to refuel a school bus at a local gas station when he was bitten by the dog. The man apparently received rabies shots following the incident.
Police are seeking help to identify the owner of the involved dogs, which are “large in size and darker in colour.” Anyone with information can call 1-888-310-1122. To remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or submit a secure tip at csgw.tips.
