PUSLINCH – On April 24 at about 7pm, Wellington County OPP respond to a disturbance on Lake Avenue East here.
“It was reported that a person, who was not to communicate with the victim, uttered threats to them and damaged their property,” police stated in a press release.
Saya Lina Horeck, 42, of Wawa, was charged with uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, mischief and failure to comply with an undertaking.
The accused is to appear in Guelph court on June 27.
Hit-and-run charges
GUELPH – An Arthur woman faces charges after two hit-and-run collisions.
On May 19 at about 9am, two vehicles were stopped in a construction zone on Victoria Road North near Cassino Avenue when they were struck from behind, Guelph Police officials state.
“The driver of the suspect vehicle made eye contact with one of the other drivers and appeared to mouth the words ‘I’m sorry’ before fleeing at a high rate of speed. No injuries were reported,” police say.
“The suspect vehicle was observed to speed through a residential area at more than twice the speed limit and drive through two stop signs.”
An 18-year-old Arthur woman is charged with failing to stop at a collision and dangerous driving. She is to appear in Guelph court on July 14. (Guelph Police do not provide the names of those charged with crimes).
False alarm, mischief
HARRISTON – On May 8 at about 9:30am, Wellington County OPP was contacted by a local fire department to advise of a false fire alarm activation at a building on John Street South here.
“It was reported that the person who had activated the fire alarm had also caused damage to the property,” police stated in a press release.
Ryan Michael Kramer, 30, Harriston, was charged with false fire alarm and mischief to property. He is to appear in Guelph court on June 13.
Dangerous driving
PUSLINCH – On May 12 at about 3:15pm, Wellington County OPP responded to a traffic complaint on Highway 6 here.
Police say a semi-truck and dump-truck were involved in a collision.
Dean G. McTavish, 52, of Newmarket, was charged with dangerous driving and driving while suspended. He is to appear in Guelph court on July 7.
Feces fracas
ERIN – On May 8, Wellington County OPP responded to a disturbance call on Credit River Road here.
Police say two residents were “involved in a heated argument over pet littering” that “escalated into an assault.”
George Vagenas, 60, of Erin, was charged with assault with a weapon and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm.
He is to appear in Guelph court on July 7.
‘Partner violence’
MINTO – On May 5 at about 9pm, Wellington County OPP responded to a report of a disturbance at a residence in Minto.
Police say officers started what they call “an intimate partner violence investigation.”
A 21-year-old resident of Minto was charged with assault (spousal) and is to appear in Guelph court at a later date.
