Police beat: Three people charged after items stolen from vehicles

GUELPH-ERAMOSA  – Three people have been charged in connection with a number of thefts from parked vehicles here.

On Dec. 22 at about 4:45am Wellington County OPP officers responded for a call about three people entering vehicles on Hartfield Drive north of Guelph.

“Police apprehended the three suspects and recovered a variety of stolen property from the Guelph-Eramosa and Centre Wellington area,” police stated. Recovered items include tools, electronics and personal effects.

Caitlyn Pratt, 25, and Chantel Horeck_Purcell, 18, both of Guelph, were charged with trespass at night, possession of stolen property and multiple counts of theft. They are to appear in Guelph court on Jan. 21.

Benn Douglas Witteveen, 25, of Cambridge, was charged with possession of methamphetamine, trespass at night, possession of stolen property and multiple counts of theft. He is to appear in Guelph court on Jan. 24.

Hunting mishap

GUELPH-ERAMOSA – On Jan. 9 at about 8:30am Wellington County OPP responded to a 911 call from an injured hunter on the 3rd Line here.

Police say the male caller, who had fallen from a tree-stand and was too injured to move, was unable to provide his exact location.

Emergency crews located the 54-year-old Guelph man using the GPS on his phone and transported him to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
