ERIN – Police are looking to identify two suspects after a bizarre incident here recently.
On March 9 at about 8pm, Wellington County OPP officers responded to a report of “suspicious people” at a residence on Laurel Lane in Erin village.
Police say two suspects threatened the residents of a home “for the return of a cellular phone and then left in a dark [SUV].”
Asked about he phone, OPP spokesperson Josh Cunningham stated in an email, “Investigators area still attempting to identify what phone the suspects was referencing. The victim did not turn over any phone.”
The initial press release from the OPP was titled “attempted robbery at Erin residence,” but police did not provide any information about an attempted robbery.
The OPP has provided the following information about the two suspects:
– man in his late 20s or early 30s, about 5’8” tall with a light brown complexion, goatee, short dark-brown hair, wearing a dark spring coat, blue jeans, black shirt, and a surgical mask hanging from one ear; and
– a “non-white” woman in her late 20s or early 30s, about 5’4” with a “thick build,” black hair in ponytail, brown eyes, “possibly pregnant” and wearing a red parka with a grey and white fur hood and “furry pom-pom ties.”

Domestic charge
CENTRE WELLINGTON – On March 6 at about 7pm, Wellington County OPP initiated an “intimate partner violence investigation” after responded to home here.
A 41-year-old resident of Guelph was charged with uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm (spousal). The accused is to appear in Guelph court on May 5.
Spousal assault
CENTRE WELLINGTON – On March 7 at about 3:15pm, Wellington County OPP initiated an “intimate partner violence investigation” after responded to home here.
A 17-year-old resident of Centre Wellington was charged with assault (spousal) and is to appear in Guelph court at a later date.
“Victims of intimate partner violence are not alone,” police stated in a press release. “If you, or someone you know needs support, there are local resources such as Victim Services Guelph-Wellington that can help.”
More ‘partner violence’
CENTRE WELLINGTON – On March 15, 2023, at approximately 6:15 p.m., the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a residence in Centre Wellington and entered into an intimate partner violence investigation.
As a result of the investigation, a 27-year-old resident of Fergus has been charged with Assault – Spousal and Forcible Confinement, contrary to the Criminal Code. The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario court of justice in Guelph, On May 12, 2023.

Catalytic converters taken
MORRISTON – Police are looking for the person(s) responsible for stealing five catalytic converters from vehicles at a business here.
On March 13, Wellington County OPP responded to a report of multiple thefts of vehicle components at a business on Highway 6.
Police say sometime between 2 and 3am “unknown persons entered the grounds of the business from Highway 6 and removed catalytic converters from five vehicles.”

Flight from police
GUELPH – On Feb. 16 at about 1:30pm, a Wellington County OPP officer was monitoring traffic on Gordon Street here.
Police say the officer observed a grey sedan commit an alleged traffic offence. “A traffic stop was performed, and the driver fled,” police stated.
Nicholas Anthony Reid, 22, of Kitchener, was charged with dangerous driving, flight from a peace officer, fail to stop (two counts), driving without a licence, failing to surrender a permit and driving with cannabis readily available.
He is to appear in Guelph court on April 28.
Drug charges
MAPLETON – On March 2 at about 4:30pm, Wellington County OPP officers were conducting a RIDE program on Sideroad 12 here.
Cody Allan Livingston, 35, of Elora, was charged with possession of Schedule I substance (opioid other than heroin) and driving with cannabis readily available.
He is to appear in Guelph court on April 28.
Meth charge
PALMERSTON – On March 4 at about 11:45pm, a Wellington County OPP officer stopped a grey pick-up truck on Bell Street here.
Chanel Lambert, 25, of Hanover, was charged with possession of Schedule I substance (methamphetamine) and is to appear in Guelph court on April 28.
Stolen car
MOUNT FOREST – On March 14 at about 12:30pm, Wellington County OPP responded to a report of a vehicle theft from Queen Street East here.
Police say someone stole a 2012 light blue Chevrolet Cruze sedan while it was parked on the street.

Building damaged
GUELPH/ERAMOSA – On March 11 Wellington County OPP responded to a report of an “unwanted” person at a complex on Highway 6, north of Guelph.
Police say the person “caused damaged to the building.”
Christopher William Bradshaw, 33, of Guelph, was charged with break and enter and two counts of mischief under $5,000. He is to appear in Guelph court on May 2.

Three charges
ERIN – A Halton Hills man faces three charges after being pulled over for an alleged driving violation last week.
Wellington County OPP officials say that on March 16 at about 9:30pm, an officer stopped a pickup truck on Trafalgar Road near Wellington Road 124
Joshua Swindlehurst, 45, of Halton Hills, was charged with possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, driving without a licence and failing to stop at a red light.
He is to appear in Guelph court on May 12.
