MORRISTON – Police are offering tips to avoid vehicle theft after a pickup truck was stolen from a Highway 401 car park here last week.
Wellington County OPP officials say officers responded to the lot, on Queen Street in Morriston, on Nov. 28 at about 12:30am.
“It was reported that the motor vehicle was parked … [from 3:45pm on Nov. 27 to 12am on Nov. 28], police stated in a press release.
“The investigation is currently still ongoing, and the OPP is asking for the public’s assistance in looking out for the stolen motor vehicle.”
The vehicle is described as a grey/silver 2012 Chevrolet Silverado pick-up truck with Ontario plate BR31847.

– never leave a running vehicle unattended;
– lock doors and roll up windows;
– keep valuables out of sight;
– never leave the keys unattended in the motor vehicle; and
– keep registration and proof of insurance in a wallet/purse and not in the glove box.

Winter driving tips
LONDON – With winter weather now here, the OPP is offering driving tips to ensure “your family’s safety when the snow starts to fly.”
“Safe winter driving means motorists should expect the unexpected and prepare for it,” stated a Dec. 2 OPP press release.
Police are offering the following winter driving tips:
– consider delaying trips until the weather improves (snowplow operators need time to clear the roads);
– if you must travel, be sure to check the current weather and forecast and monitor the media for weather and road conditions;
– plan your trip before starting out. Visit the MTO website for road conditions at 511on.ca or municipal 511 at municipal511.ca;
– ensure your fuel tank is full before hitting the road. (if you encounter a lengthy traffic delay, you’ll need your vehicle’s heater);
– be sure to dress for winter even though you’ll be in your car (in case you are stranded); and
– carry a winter driving survival kit in the vehicle (items should include a shovel, blanket, warm clothes, food, booster cables, flashlight, high energy foods, matches and a candle).
