PALMERSTON – A Mapleton man was charged with assault following a recent incident at a local park.
Wellington County OPP officials say police responded to a call about an assault at Lions Park in Palmerston on Dec. 18 at about 6:30pm.
Dariuz J. Martin, 18, of Mapleton, was charged with assault with a weapon and is to appear in Guelph court on Jan. 25.

Harriston man charged after vehicle stolen
HARRSITON – A local man has been charged in connection with a vehicle theft here one week before Christmas.
Wellington County OPP officials say police received a report about a stolen vehicle in harriston on Dec. 18 at about 7:30am.
Shortly thereafter, officers located the suspect, placed them into custody and recovered the stolen vehicle, police stated in a press release.
Eric Whalen, 36, of Harriston, was charged with theft of motor vehicle and is to appear in Guelph court on Jan. 25.

Stolen ATV
PUSLINCH – Two teenagers from Cambridge have been charged after an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) was stolen here on Boxing Day.
Wellington County OPP officials say police received a report about a stolen side-by-side ATV on Dec. 26 in Puslinch Township.
Police “located the suspects, and placed them into custody, recovering the stolen vehicle,” stated a Dec. 27 press release.
Two 15-year-olds from Cambridge were arrested charged with break and enter, failing to comply with a release order, two counts of vehicle theft and two counts of possession of property obtained by crime (over $5,000).
They were held for bail.

Partner violence
WELLINGTON COUNTY – Local police continue to lay intimate partner violence charges across the county.
Those arrested include:
– a 19-year-old woman from Kenilworth, who was charged with assault in relation to an incident in Wellington North on Dec. 20;
– a 48-year-old man from Centre Wellington, who was charged with assault in relation to an incident in Fergus on Dec. 21;
– a 26-year-old man from Guelph, who was charged with failing to comply with an undertaking in relation to an incident in Puslinch on Dec. 26;
The accused individuals are to appear in Guelph court at a later date.
