Gun, drug charges
CENTRE WELLINGTON – Two Waterloo residents are facing weapon and drug charges after their vehicle was stopped here last week.
Wellington County OPP officials say the stop, conducted on July 20 at about 7:30pm on Wellington Road 18, was the result of an investigation that also involved Grey Bruce and Huron-Perth OPP officers.
“As a result of the traffic stop, a loaded handgun and a quantity of drugs and Canadian currency was located and seized. The estimated value of the seized property is over $11,500,” police stated in a press release.
Kanaan Ebanks-Daley and Ethan Peter Krzyz, both 22, of Waterloo, were charged with:
– possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine);
– occupying a vehicle knowing there was a firearm;
– unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm;
– carrying a concealed weapon;
– careless use of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition; and
– possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm.
Ebanks-Daley was also charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
Both men were held pending a bail hearing.
Break-in, theft
FERGUS – On June 29, Wellington County OPP officers responded to a report of a break-in at a building on Union Street East here.
Police say that on June 29 at about 5:30am, two individuals “made entry into the building and stole building supplies.”
The investigation is ongoing.
Theft from vehicle
MOUNT FOREST – On July 12, Wellington County OPP officers responded to a report of a theft that had occurred sometime overnight on Wellington Street East here.
Police say someone entered the victim’s vehicle and stole approximately $500 worth of items, including a bank card that was used at a nearby business.
The investigation is ongoing.
Trailer taken
MOUNT FOREST – On July 17, Wellington County OPP responded to a report of a theft of a trailer.
Police say that sometime between 7am and 3pm a silver utility trailer with licence plate “L1303V” was stolen from a residence on Byeland Drive in Mount Forest.
Prohibited driver
GUELPH – A Fergus woman was arrested after she was caught driving in Guelph while prohibited.
Just before 5pm on July 19, an officer with Guelph Police conducted a traffic stop on Neeve Street in Guelph.
A 51-year-old Fergus woman was charged with driving while prohibited and two counts of driving while suspended.
She is to appear in Guelph court on Sept. 1.
