ERIN – Police are looking for help to identify person(s) who stole electrical wiring from barns.
Wellington County OPP officials say they investigated a theft on Main Street in Erin on Aug. 12 at about 8:15am.
“It was determined that an unknown number of individuals arrived at the address … [and] removed approximately 400 feet of wiring for exterior lighting from four barns,” police stated in an Aug. 14 press release.

Intimate partner violence
HARRISTON – On Aug. 12 Wellington County OPP opened an intimate partner violence investigation in Harriston.
Police say a 23-year-old man from Harriston and a 21-year-old woman from Guelph were each charged with assault.
Both are to appear in Guelph court at a later date.

FERGUS – On Aug. 12 Wellington County OPP opened an intimate partner violence investigation here.
Police say a 34-year-old man from North Perth was charged with assault and is to appear in Guelph at a later date.
Another LCBO theft?
FERGUS – Local police are looking to help identify three people they say are responsible for stealing thousands of dollars worth of merchandise from a local store.
Wellington County OPP officials say police were called to “a business located on St. David Street North” on Aug. 3 at about 8:30pm.
Police say “three suspects entered the store and removed a quantity of items, valued at over $2,500. All three suspects then fled to an awaiting white coloured vehicle which then left the area in an unknown direction.”
Police did not identify the store but it appears from a photo (above) they provided to be the LCBO in north Fergus.

Commercial vehicle blitz
PUSLINCH – Police have released the results from an Aug. 13 “commercial motor vehicle blitz” in Puslinch.
In eight hours, police investigated 12 commercial vehicles, with the results as follows:
- one vehicle was placed out of service for a variety of defects (including six out of the 10 brakes not functioning properly);
- five seatbelt infractions;
- two cell phone infractions;
- three moving infractions;
- two vehicles on a “no-truck” route;
- eight other infractions (including documentation, administrative and vehicle maintenance); and
- 21 warnings.
“Police are reminding drivers to ensure the safety of your vehicle before driving and always follow rules of the road,” police stated in a press release.
“If you have an urgent traffic complaint or if you suspect someone is driving while … impaired by drugs or alcohol, please call 911 immediately.”
