Police beat: Construction site theft

PUSLINCH – Police are looking for help to find the person(s) responsible for stealing $100,000 worth of tools and equipment from a local construction site.

Wellington County OPP officials say that sometime between the evening of July 18 and the morning of July 22, unknown suspects forced their way into a compound on McLean Road in Puslinch.

Police say the thieves stole an estimated $100,000 worth of property, including tools, electric vehicle chargers and an ATV. Anyone with information can call police or Crime Stoppers.

Stolen truck

FERGUS – On June 8 at about 5:30pm, Wellington County OPP responded to a suspicious vehicle report on Gordon Street.

“It was reported that a possible stolen white pick-up truck was being operated in the area,” states a July 18 press release from police.

As a result of the investigation, Abigail Turner, 29, of Fergus, was charged with dangerous driving, three counts of driving while prohibited, two counts of possession of property obtained by crime and failing to comply with a release order.

She was held for bail.

Driving charges

ROCKWOOD – On April 25 at about 1:15pm a Wellington County OPP officer monitoring traffic on Shanley Street stopped the driver of a black SUV.

A 35-year-old from Acton was charged with two counts of driving while suspended, using unauthorized plates,  fail to apply for a permit, driving without insurance and driving with an open container of liquor.

The defendant is to appear in court on Aug. 21.
