Police beat; Brampton men charged in thefts

WELLINGTON COUNTY – Four Brampton men have been charged in connection with the theft of over $3,000 worth of products from two local stores.

Wellington County OPP officials say police responded to a theft from a business in Palmerston on April 6 at about 8pm.

“It was reported that three suspects had stolen approximately $1,000 in product from the retailer,” police stated in a July 11 press release.

Six days later, on April 12 at about 5:45pm, police responded to a theft from a business in Arthur. 

“It was reported that four suspects were attempting to steal approximately $2,500 in product from the retailer,” police stated

“Officers responded and stopped the theft. Two of the suspects were recognized as being involved with the April 6 … theft.”

Police did not identify either store involved. It’s not clear why it took the OPP three months to report this incident to the media.

Akashdeep Singh, 19, of Brampton, was charged with theft under $5,000 and was to appear in Guelph court on May 10.  

Simranjit Singh, 23, of Brampton, was charged with theft under $5,000 and was to appear in Guelph court on June 28.  

Jaspreet Singh, 22, of Brampton, was charged with theft under $5,000 and was to appear in Guelph court on May 10.

Ramandeep Singh Sidhi, 22, of Brampton, was charged with resisting a peace officer, two counts of theft under $5,000 and possession of a Schedule I substance (heroin). He was held for bail.  

Drove on sidewalk

FERGUS – A Kitchener man has been charged after a vehicle drove on the sidewalk here this spring.

Wellington County OPP officials say police responded to a traffic complaint on Tower Street in Fergus on April 21 at about 3pm.

“It was reported that the driver of a black sedan was driving on the sidewalk,” police stated in a July 10 press release.

A 55-year-old Kitchener man was charged with dangerous driving and was to appear in Guelph court on May 21.

It’s not clear why it took the OPP almost three months to report this incident to the media.

Dangerous driving

CENTRE WELLINGTON – On April 16 at about 2pm, Wellington County OPP responded to a traffic complaint on Wellington Road 18.

“It was reported that a vehicle was being driven in a dangerous manner,” police stated in a July 10 press release.

A 43-year-old man from Mississauga was charged with driving without insurance, driving without a permit and dangerous driving. 

He was to appear in Guelph court on May 24. 

It’s not clear why it took the OPP almost three months to report this incident to the media.
