WELLINGTON NORTH – On March 30 at about 11:15pm, Wellington County OPP responded to a disturbance at a residence here.
“It was reported that one person had been assaulted by a person known to them and had suffered minor injuries,” police stated.
A 32-year-old from Wellington North was charged assault and is to appear in Guelph court on May 26.
Probation, assault charges
ARTHUR – On March 25 at about 11:45pm, Wellington County OPP responded to a report of a disturbance involving three people in a parking lot here.
A 43-year-old Wellington North resident, who was known to both victims, was charged with assault and failing to comply with a probation order.
Teen faces theft charges
FERGUS – On Dec. 9, someone broke into two vehicles in the Fergus area and stole credit cards and personal identification.
“It was later determined that one of the credit cards had been used to make a purchase at a business in Guelph,” police stated in a press release.
“Officers were able to obtain surveillance footage of a person of interest and a vehicle suspected to be involved with this occurrence.”
A 17-year-old from Kitchener was charged with theft under $5,000, mischief under $5,000, theft of a credit card, use of a stolen credit card and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000. The accused is to appear in Guelph court at a later date.
Sexual assault charge
ERIN – Police have now laid charges in an intimate partner sexual assault investigation that occurred in Erin and Halton in 2021.
A 36-year-old resident of Erin was charged with two counts of sexual assault and is to appear in Guelph court on May 30.
Spousal assault
WELLINGTON NORTH – On March 30 Wellington County OPP officers responded to a report of an intimate partner assault investigation here.
A 46-year-old resident of Wellington North was charged with spousal assault and is to appear in Guelph court on May 23.
Gas meters damaged
PALMERSTON – On April 6 at about 9pm, Wellington County OPP responded to a mischief call at an apartment building on Main Street East here.
“It was reported that a known person had damaged several gas meters,” police stated.
Richard Terence Hays, 38, of Palmerston, was charged with mischief (destroying or damaging property) and is to appear in Guelph court on May 30.
‘Improper use’ of lights
WELLINGTON NORTH – On March 31 at about 2:30pm, a Wellington Count OPP officer was monitoring traffic on Wellington Road 109, east of Arthur.
Police say the officer saw a white pickup truck was travelling with green emergency lights activated.
A 40-year-old from Alton was charged with improper use of green flashing lights.
“Drivers should be aware that green flashing lights are restricted to firefighters and volunteer medical responders who are responding to an emergency,” police stated in a press release.
