Plans are underway for the 29th annual Ontario Mennonite Relief Sale Inc.’s heifer sale at 11am on Feb. 19 at Carson Auction Facilities in Listowel.
All proceeds of the sale will go to relief and development work of the Mennonite Central Committee (MCC). The organizing committee is seeking animal and cash donations.
“Since its beginning, the heifer sales have raised over $3.8-million for MCC through the donation of almost 3,100 heifers,” said sale committee chair Clarence Diefenbacher. “Last year’s sale raised over $200,000.”
Local farmers, agribusinesses, and individuals support the sale by donating heifers, staff, trucking, feed, straw, veterinary, and auction services and facilities.
People interested in donating a heifer or cash can contact Diefenbacher at 519-669-2164 or sale committee secretary John Brenneman at 519-662-1156 or hiltoper@sentex.net.
A catalogue will be available from sale organizers or at davidcarson.on.ca prior to the sale. For more information contact Brenneman.
