On Dec. 2 at about 12:25pm emergency crews responded to an airplane that made an emergency landing at Guelph Airpark on Skyway Drive here.
Police say “a homemade pleasure aircraft,” a Zenith “Zenair,” that departed from Guelph Airpark at about 12:10pm experienced engine problems about 15 minutes into the flight and tried to return to the Guelph Airpark.
“At one point the plane touched the top of a tree which changed the trajectory of the aircraft towards the west side of the runway,” police stated. “This caused it to land hard at the south end of a harvested corn field.”
Damage to the plane appeared to be minor, police added, noting the pilot was transported by ambulance to a local hospital with minor injuries. The Transportation Safety Board was notified of the incident.
