Check out the 50 Awesome Things to Do Contest and challenge yourself to get outside, get dirty and become one of nature’s explorers this summer.
Participating in nature programs at the Grand River Parks will give children and family some close encounters with nature and could result in winning a weekend for two glamping at Elora Gorge Park, an eco-birthday party or an annual pass.
The contest encourages participation in family interpretive programs at Grand River Parks. These programs are led by GRCA nature guides and provide park patrons with an opportunity to participate in a variety of nature-themed activities. These include bug safaris, bat shows, eagle hikes and navigation challenges. GRCA nature guides now provide programs at seven parks within the central part of the Grand River watershed.
These nature programs are free with park admission and for those who are camping, or have a Grand River Parks Membership.
For every nature program attended between July 4 and September 8, the participants will be given a ballot for a chance to win one of three prizes in the GRCA 50 Things Contest. The more park programs attended, the greater your chance of winning.
The grand prize is a two-night glamping retreat for two in a luxurious tent, provided by Moonlight Glamping of Elora. You can relax in your 210 square foot tent equipped with a bamboo pillow-top mattress and 1,200 thread count sheets. This prize is valued at $350.
Two secondary prizes will also be awarded. Winners can select a Grand River Parks Membership annual pass valued at $110. This provides a full year of free visits to all Grand River Parks and the ability to take in all nature programs during the year at no additional cost. Or, the winner may select a voucher for a two-hour eco-adventure birthday party at a GRCA Nature Centre valued at $135.
Each eligible event where ballots can be obtained has a 50Things badge on the GRCA’s events calendar and are included in the event list on the website www.grandriver.ca/events.
