Parades get residents in the spirit of the season

Centre Wellington Mayor Kelly Linton says the recent Elora Lions Santa Claus Parade of Lights was a hit.

He understands there were hundreds of visitors to the parade.

Linton added that the Fergus parade is Dec. 2 at 1:30pm.

“It will be another fun time to celebrate Christmas and the Christmas spirit,” Linton said.

“Our downtowns are going to be busy and lots of people will be out.”

A recent email to the Wellington Advertiser pointed out it is the spirit of the entire community not just one group which makes the Fergus parade come alive each year.

Representatives of the  three service clubs, Lions, Optimists and Kinsmen organize the Fergus Santa Claus Parade, which is funded by the Fergus BIA and Centre Wellington Township.

The parade committee acknowledges and thanks the community volunteers who staff intersections along the parade route as well the Fergus Grand Theatre and AO Smith, which makes their parking lot available for the parade staging area, as well as Kitras Art Glass, which stores the Santa Claus float.
