It’s plaid, pipes and pageantry on Aug. 11 to kick off this year’s Fergus Scottist Festival and Highland Games.
The parade will wind its usual route through town starting at 7:30pm.
There will be a “rolling closure” for the parade. At the conclusion of the march, St. Andrew Street between Tower Street and St. David Street will remain closed until 9:30pm to vehicle traffic so that various music performances can take place in front of the Grand Theatre, the library and the River Walk.
This is an amazing opportunity to indulge in a sidewalk sale and stay open late.
Business owners are reminded to decorate their windows with a highland theme.
The Fergus BIA will have a decorated bus in the parade as well as a golf cart and will be handing out paper copies of the shuttle bus timetables.
The Highland Shuttle is once again being sponsored by the Fergus BIA. The shuttle provides transport between various Centre Wellington locations and the festival site.
Bus #1 runs on a circuit from Elora’s Grand River Raceway to the Elora Legion and then Downtown Fergus (Fergus info centre) and on to the site. Bus #2 runs on a circuit from Highland Pines to Maple Leaf Acres to Downtown Fergus and on to the site.
