NORTH PERTH – Police have charged a Palmerston man with sexual assault following an incident earlier this month.
On March 8, Perth County OPP was “contacted by the adult victim, who reported that they were sexually assaulted at a residence in Listowel by a person who they had met on the internet on March 4,” police stated in a March 23 press release.
Police say the accused was arrested in Gravenhurst on March 21.
A 32-year-old Palmerston man was charged with sexual assault causing bodily harm and held for a bail hearing.
Provincial Constable Jillian Johnson told the Advertiser the man is not being identified because there is a publication ban in the case.
‘Not alone’
“Victims of sexual assault/domestic violence are not alone,” police stated.
“If you, or someone you know, is in need of support, there are local resources available to help.”
Police say victims can call Victim Services in their area or, if they are in an immediate crisis, dial 9-1-1.
