PALMERSTON – The Palmerston Food Bank has changed the way it sponsors its Christmas clients due to COVID-19 restrictions.
Instead of having sponsors purchase gifts, with the food bank providing a full Christmas dinner for hampers, the food bank is now asking for donations of gift cards to local businesses.
Last year supporters of the Palmerston Food Bank provided almost 50 Christmas gift hampers to those in need in the local community.
“It was an amazing display of generosity from a small town. It is hoped that this new gift card program enables all our clients to purchase what they truly want or need, for themselves as well as their children,” food bank officials state.
The Palmerston Food Bank is taking Christmas hamper requests until Nov. 15.
“If you, or someone you know, is having financial difficulty or is in need and could use some help at Christmas, please contact the food bank and give them the information,” organizers urge.
“Palmerston is a very generous community and gives tremendously to the food bank over the Christmas season – let the food bank help you make Christmas a bit brighter.”
