PALMERSTON – The Palmerston Agricultural Society has announced the postponement of the 2020 Palmerston Fair until August of 2021.
As COVID-19 concerns and restrictions remain in place for the foreseeable future, Palmerston Agricultural Society officials say it will not be possible to mount this year’s main event, originally scheduled for Aug. 21 to 23.
In addition, the Palmerston Agricultural Society will also postpone its annual July tractor pull until 2021. This event traditionally draws a large crowd of pullers and spectators, many coming from outside the Town of Minto.
In April, the agricultural society canceled its popular Farmers’ Pre-Seeding Barbecue and a Ladies Night event.
All of these events will be rescheduled for 2021.
The society’s ambassador program will also be deferred to 2021 and current senior and junior ambassadors will continue to hold their title for the coming year.
The fair theme – Around the World in 3 Fair Days – will be carried forward to next year’s Palmerston Fair in August 2021; and the fair book is already online to help exhibitors prepare. View the fair book at www.palmerstonfair.com to plan exhibits for next year and to locate this year’s directory of fair advertisers.
“We ask that you continue to support these local businesses and fair supporters,” the society states.
“The Palmerston Agricultural Society is appreciative of the many people – guests, board members, volunteers, exhibitors, vendors, sponsors, service providers, community groups, entertainers, 4-Hers and farmers – all who attend and support our annual events. Though we are all disappointed that our fair must be postponed, we hope to keep the fair spirit alive this summer.”
The agricultural society is working on some “virtual” fair options so it can continue to connect with the community this year.
Society president Tiffany Byrd advises everyone to “stay tuned to Facebook and our website to enjoy online competitions, summer fun contests, prizes, fair offerings, entertainment and agricultural education.”
